Using Your Blog to Market Your Podcast
Blogs and RSS feeds are a very easy, natural way to market your podcast. There are some steps you can take to make this process easy and effective. And, don’t use this as an alternative to listing your podcast with podcast aggregators, use this in addition.
- If you haven’t already, establish a blog that offers regular informational updates. Post your podcast to
your blog, each time you create it. Also offer additional resources, tips, etc on your blog to encourage people to visit on a regular basis.
- Have your information go directly to your readers, use an email list management system. Bravenet offers free services, and others do too. Just make sure you read the fine print when downloading the software or adding code to your site. This removes almost all of the effort on the part of the audience…make it easy to take action.
- Use your blog to drive search engine traffic to your podcast. By using keywords and descriptive language, new listeners can discover your blog posts and ultimately your podcast. Update your blog regularly in order to encourage the search engines to index the content on a frequent basis. This can improve your search engine rankings.
Reaching out with text and graphics on a blog will help your listeners visualize your subject matter and build depth to your podcasts. Ultimately, this results in listener loyalty and positive word of mouth marketing.
