Using twitter for business
After a small dip, twitter has had a resurgence. We get a lot of questions asking How do I use twitter for business? So we decided to write a little post about it.
1. Reputation management
Perform your search at search.twitter.com and then subscribe to the rss feed. This will alert you whenever anyone tweets your name and is a great start to reputation management.
2. Promote Others
No one likes listening to someone talk about themselves all the time so why would consumers want to hear you advertise for yourself constantly? Talk about other companies (nicely) and hope you show up on their radar and return the favor.
3. Instant Damage Control
Remember that rss feed that you set up in #1? When you see someone tweet your name don’t be shy to publicly respond to them even if what they said was negative. Customers will appreciate seeing that you’re putting forth an effort to interact with them and solve issues.
4. Crowd Source
Once you have a following of people why not put their opinions to use? Send out a tweet asking for feedback on a current or future product or ask them what they’d like to see go on sale next.
5. Competition Watch
Don’t forget that you’re not the only tech savvy company out there. Chances are your competition is on twitter as well… Follow them and pay attention to what they’re saying.
6. Links to Your Site
Fill out your profile and include a link to your site. Twitter has a field for you to input your website but unfortunately they put the dreaded “nofollow” on it. However if you drop your link in a different part of your profile like the “bio” section you get a link without the “nofollow”.

7. Feed Your Tweets into Your Blot
As part of your blog promotion feed your Twitter RSS feed into your blog. This not only provides more content but also keeps your blog readers aware of what you’re doing. Provide a link to your Twitter account and you can get some more followers out of it as well.
