Using MyBlog Log to Promote Your Blog
MyBlogLog is a popular site for building communities around blogs. And while I wouldn’t suggest this be your primary strategy for recruiting readers, it is still a solid option. Here’s why: the other folks on MyBlogLog are ther
e for the purpose of networking. People are generally able to build a following quickly. These are other bloggers…they understand your pain…
Another great feature of this site is that it automatically enrolls you in communities that match your stated interests. Though this might seem forced in the beginning, it actually saves you some of the effort of searching and finding other communities. And if you have ever used FaceBook to market your business, you know it can be difficult to sort through all of the groups to find what you need.
You can also install a widget on your site that will show the faces of the people who have most recently visited your blog. And aside from the fact that I enjoy “seeing” the people who visit my blog, this tracking widget allows me to find and friend my visitors. A great way to build a network.
If you have multiple blogs, be sure to post them all. Your contacts might be interested in reading more than one. Which brings up one of the most important steps to making sure MBL works for you. Fill out your profile completely. Be sure to include descriptive tags that let the site know how to show you in search results and also what communities would be of interest to you.
MBL is worth investing time in developing a following and building relationships. But I would recommend it as a second stage or third stage marketing effort.
