Using Keywords to Keep Your Blog Relevant
Most of us tend to think of keyword generation as a one time thing…something we do when we start a site…and that’s about the end of it. But language is rarely that easy to pin down. How we describe something today may be very different than how we described it in the past. Not to mention that the lingo people within a field use can be confusing to people outside of that reality. And if the people “outside of your reality” are your customers then you are in serious trouble.
We’ve talked about using Google AdWords Keyword Generator as a way to take a look at what people are using when they search. There are many other sites out there that will do something similar. So, there’s really no excuse for continuing to use old information…it is just too easy to see how people are describing and searching for your service. Wouldn’t you want to make it as easy as possible for them to find you?
Something that I find incredibly strange is that businesses sometimes refuse to use the words their customers are using. That because those words aren’t the “right” words, they won’t put them on their website. But here’s the deal…if your customers are searching for house cleaners and you are marketing your services as domestic engineers they will not find your site. Search engines do not know how to generalize… by using search language, you increase your search engine visibility.
Just keep your language current and accurate…it is an easy way to make sure your customers don’t have to work to find you.
