Twitter removes link juice

Well I swear to branch away from twitter and google posts but both have been hot in the news lately.
Today twitter did something that made quite a few people unhappy if you check out #6 on my post Using twitter for business you’ll see that you could put a link in your bio to your site and get some link love from twitter. Well today twitter disabled that feature or as many call it – loop hole. This made quite a few people angry as you can see if you do a twitter search for twitter bio links.
The main complaint people have is that they put the effort into building up their twitter profile, getting places to link to it, getting people to follow them and actively keeping it updated. Since twitter is supposedly a microblogging platform they should be allowed to link (and get the link followed) to their home page. It’s not like it’s going to hurt twitter at all. I would have to agree with the majority of the arguments.
The best solution i can come up with is to reward twitter users by allowing them the ability to have links that are followed. Perhaps they could allow people with a certain amount of tweets the abiltiy to have a link to one page.
What are your thoughts? Do you think it’s fair for sites like twitter to capitalize off peoples work and not give back in the form of allowing links to be followed? Would rewarding active users be an acceptable work around?
