Twitter lays down some commercial guidelines
Today twitter released some guidelines that help define what they consider spam. They make it clear that they aprrove of Twitter for business use but make these statements for what is considered spam.

- Following other accounts in order to gain attention to your account or links there within
- Creating a series of accounts in order to promote one thing
- Sending a large number of @replies that aren’t genuine replies
- Creating updates to just to show up in search results
- Disguising links - writing about one thing and linking to another
All of these sound like pretty obvious cases of spamming except the first one. If you’re just starting on twitter and don’t know anyone it’s kind of hard to get people to follow you without first finding some others to follow. Then once the @replies start coming in other people start to notice you as well.
How about you? Do you feel these twitter guidelines are fair for businesses? Do you think twitter will enforce these strictly or just in extreme cases?
