Tips For Blog Marketing With Technorati
Blog Marketing types mostly agree that Technorati is arguably the oldest and most established of the Blog search engines. Ask any blogger, and he or she will tell you they absolutely covet a good Technorati search results ranking.
But before you think of rankings, you’ll want to ensure that Technorati “notices” your blog.
On BloggerTalk, Simon Akers offers some valuable tips:
Simon notes that while Technorati issimilar to normal search engines- but instead of crawling websites and ranking them using complex algorithms, Technorati allows bloggers to tag their posts with relevant keywords so that the content appears in the results pages when those keywords are searched.
“This means that you don’t have to wait for Technorati to find and index your blog because each tag will automatically get your post listed for that keyword,” Simon writes. “Each tag will help Technorati categories your content and all posts with the same tag are grouped together and ranked with the most recent at the top.”
Yes, that’s true, Simon. But what about getting Technorati to “find” your blog?
“Even if your website is only a few days old, you can still get the content on your blog listed in a matter of days (unlike traditional search engines that can can take months to index new websites),” Simon writes. “This enables you to immediately get more exposure and attract more people to your blog.”
Simon recommends that in addition to tagging you can also list your entire blog by creating a free account and this will allow other bloggers to add your blog to their list of favorites.
“If your content is good you will quickly find that other blogs start linking to your blog and this will increase your rankings in their listings,” he emphasizes.
And the process is not difficult. In fact, it’s quick. And, as Simon says (couldn’t resist that one, “all you have to do is add simple tags to the end of your posts and your content will be listed very quickly. ” Your traffic should increase as a result.
In terms of the bigger picture, Simon says that what you are really doing by enhancing your visibility and rank on Technorati, you are allowing your readers to organize content such as yours into a way that is convenient to them.
“So if you want to take your blog to the next level you should seriously consider using Technorati,” Simon adds.
