Is Yahoo! Buying Digg?

The rumors are that Yahoo!, consistently one of the top 3 sites on Alexa and an online powerhouse, is considering buying Digg, a very popular tech-focused social bookmarking site.
Considering that Yahoo! has recently purchased Del.icio.us, Flickr, OddPost, and other ‘happening’ social sites, it only makes sense to add Digg to the foray.

Yahoo! has puchased some fabulous Web 2.0 companies lately (Flickr, Del.icio.us, OddPost). Unfortunatly, earnings were a penny short of estimates and the great buys just weren’t enough to please Wall St.  From the Internet Stock Blog:

After a recent cash infusion of $2.8 million, Digg.com plans to expand into new areas and offer new content, like audio and video.  The CEO, Jay Adelson, said "Whatever we choose, we’ve got good access to a critical mass of people," and with thousands of users, in less than a year’s time he’s right.
