Search Engine Visibility: Website Submissions
Search Engine Visibility is critical for driving traffic to your site. And while there are several ways to make it more likely that people will find you, the place to start is with website submissions.
If you are new to the concept of Search Engine Visibility, let me give you just a bit of background. As the name implies, greater visibility in search results is a good thing. Specifically, 80-90% of people searching for
information only look at the first page of results. Think about it, when you enter a word or phrase in Google, how many pages back do you go to look for information?
But how to get to that first page? The very first thing you must do is submit your blog to the search engine sites. Surprisingly, this step often is missed because people assume the search engines will automatically add you to their search process. Not so…if you do not add yourself to the top search engines, it could be months before you show up, if you show up.
Submission is very easy and is different for each site. Here’s my top three recommended search engines for website submission:
You can go to most of the search engines and add your URL, though some sites like Ask.com don’t have a submission process. For an extensive listing of other sites, check out this Wiki listing…be patient, it will take a bit of diligence, but it is worth it!
