Mixx the Web Your Way
Mixx is one of those sites that doesn’t get much attention…and I am not sure why. It is similar to StumbleUpon and Digg, except it is a much more user friendly format. Here’s the gist of it: Create a page that has feeds of stuff from across the web that is of interest to you. All kinds of feeds flow here, photo, video, blog, news, you name it. And it is all shown in a very easy to understand, user-friendly way. You can also join groups that share similar interests to yours…and share your links with those groups.
Adding to the Mixx is certainly easy enough…there is a place for you to enter a link for posting or you can use their bookmarklet. There are several options to describe the site, add tags, and send to groups. Once the link is posted, it can be voted or commented on, much like other social bookmarking sites.
I like this site for a few reasons, the first of which, it is really easy to use. Second, it is really easy to find things of interest and the layout is visually appealing. Third, the links from Mixx to my blog consistently show up in my backlink searches. Which makes sense because Mixx gives you the opportunity to create great context for your links…something that search engines like.
Check Mixx out and see if it appeals to you. You may want to use it only on occasion, but I think it is worth the effort, even if only for the link building properties.
