Make Your Blog Content Work Twice as Hard
One of the biggest challenges in social media is generating so much content. Each site provides an opportunity to share information with an interested audience. But how can you do that without spending 24 hours a day creating content? By learning to re-purpose your original post or article, you can get more milage out of your material. You can promote your blog in a way that is time efficient and incredibly effective.
Your article or post is the starting platform. From it, you can create smaller, bite sized chunks of information
to share on the web. Let’s take a look at how that translates into action:
- Twitter: Use your engaging post title to let your followers on Twitter know you have a must-read posted on your site
- Mixx, StumbleUpon, Digg: Grab the most compelling paragraph and use it to submit your story to social bookmarking sites
- FaceBook, MySpace: Take an abbreviated version of your post and use it to update your Facebook or MySpace groups. You can also repost a shortened version on your MySpace blog with a link back to the original article.
- Article Submissions: Take your blog post and use it as the basis for an article on the subject. Post to sites like Ezine and Scribd.
- Slideshare: Chunk up your article and format into slides. Upload and share on Slideshare.
- Photobucket, Flickr: Use photos in the post, upload to photo sites using corresponding tags.
- Youtube, Vimeo: Create a video post and upload to video sharing sites. Videos can also be uploaded to social networking sites.
These are just some of the ways you can make your blog content pull double duty. I certainly wouldn’t recommend doing each of these things every day…that sort of defeats the notion of saving time. Create a schedule for yourself and alternate distribution tactics. Doing so will help you get the most mileage out of the hard work you put into making your blog the best.
