Daily stock library images in your RSS reader
I come into contact a lot with photographers and art directors. And they’re always looking at the latest catalogues from photo studios and stock photo libraries for inspiration. So why not find it in RSS feeds too?
I looked around on Google but was disappointed to find that the biggest stock libraries sxc.hu, corbis.com and gettyimages.com didn’t have RSS feeds. Not even a corporate blog. I could get images from custom RSS feeds from flickr.com but it wouldn’t be the same as a professional library because it would be hard to get purchase or rental information if the images needed to be used.
Fortunately a couple of the smaller libraries did have RSS feeds of their latest images. Imagevortex.com has one. And Ifimages.com was particularly impressive because they had formatted their RSS feed with CSS to look like a page from their catalogue!
UPDATE: I just found the Interestingness Calendar on Flickr and I hacked a feed for the page using the feed scraper service feed43.com. The URL for the feed is this: http://feed43.com/flickrinteresting.xml.
