Create a Strategy for Blog Promotion, Part 1
Blog Promotion is more than just random acts of social media…it is a cohesive plan that involves virtual and “real world” promotion. In this post, we will talk about virtual promotion.
Virtual promotion can range from easy to complex, dependent upon the amount of interest, time and skill of the writer. I like to start with a control panel. A home page where I can access my blog reader, my search engine, my email, and any other extras that help me manage my process.
Different services offer different varieties of the command station. Netvibes and PageFlakes have a customizable home page that includes local information, as well as customizable components. These range from weather and movies to blog and email readers to podcast and video managers.
My favorite is igoogle. For me, this is the tool that has the best business application. By setting up your igoogle page you can:
- View all email accounts coordinated through Gmail
- Use Google Docs to share documents with selected individuals
- Keep and eye on Google Hot Trends, showing what topics are coming up in search engines and how “hot” those topics are
- Link your Yahoo Pipes to see results automatically
- Create notes to yourself, save clippings, small bits of information in Google Notebook
- Set up Google Alerts to find conversations around the web about topics of interest
And these are just some of the ways you can expand your productivity and effectiveness by using a control panel to keep your process on track. Have you used an aggregating and organizing system like this before? How has it worked for you?
