Costco to adopt RSS
An announcement from the eTail Conference suggests that Costco will be moving towards web 2.0 communications.
The past year or two have seen evolutions in the Costco online portfolio. First, putting merchandise up in flyers, next online shopping. Canada’s costco.ca recently came live for online shopping - retailing which includes merchandis in-store as well as selected other products.
Costco will be working towards more "permission-based" communications in the upcoming year, buzz words for marketing that is less "in your face" than traditional marketing. Obvious to that - tailored, personalized emails and the interactivity of RSS.
RSS has the power to meet many of the demands of this consumer-driven marketplace: scalability, flexibility, personalization, low cost, and dynamic.
