Content Promotion Strategies for Your Blog

There are literally hundreds of content promotion strategies that will boost your blogs visibility and traffic. Some are broad approaches and some are very specific to your niche audience. But not all will be as effective, so creating a list of priorities and tactics is a great way to start.

A couple of things to consider when creating your list: Before you invest your time on a site, make sure the demographics match your target market and consider the visibility benefit vs backlink benefit. It is easy to find the demographic information for many social media sites. Sometimes, the site itself publishes the information directly. Other times, you can find the information by checking evaluative sites like Quantcast.

The other primary consideration should be striking a balance between visibility and backlinking benefits. Google does not value social media backlinks as much as it does other types of links. However, your relationships and visibility on a site might indicate that a significant percentage of your time should be spent on that site. Balancing these two things is important when thinking about how much of your resources should be invested and where.

Once you have gathered that information, create a plan that takes into account the above information and your ability to spend time and energy implementing it. If you only have a couple of hours a week to work the plan, you need to target sites that will have the biggest bang for your buck. If you have more time, you can create a list of sites that have staggered priorities. Some sites will be daily interaction, some weekly, some bi-weekly or even monthly.

Creating plan to direct your content promotion strategies is important in ensuring you don’t waste time and energy on sites that won’t benefit your business. Once you have the plan created, just make sure you implement it consistently.
