Can a CEO blog be personal and corporate?
The New York Times has a story about a CEO who blogs — Jason Goldberg of Jobster.com. It tracks a series of posts that Goldberg made at the end of last year, that denied that Jobster was laying off employees. And on January 3, Goldberg posts a layoff announcement of 66 employees.
The ironic thing is that he later posts “Why am I so comfortable blogging?” he asked. “Answer: transparency. Embrace it. Don’t run from it.” I’m not sure how that works, but I guess Goldberg viewed his blog as a personal blog as a CEO. Then again, why make layoff announcements on a personal blog? It’s a tough call when a personal blog has to touch on subjects of importance to a company.
