Blog marketing for real estate is almost too much fun, too easy. In fact, you can become distracted by all the marketing opportunities that blogs permit the Realtor. As a former realtor I would have killed to have such a communication tool.

Granted, the internet has deprived the Realtor of their exclusive hold on the Multiple Listing Service but the bottom line with any service is how much anyone is willing to pay to have someone else do the provided task. Even if buyers and sellers can use the same internet to carry out their own transactions there will always be those who prefer a professional Realtor handling their real estate business.

Were I still in the business I would include Podcasts of marketing tips, video tours, and a google map mashup with all of my listings. Because of the amazing versatility that XML/RSS permits, all that my buyers and sellers would need to be updated via PC or cell phone is to subscribe to my RSS feed. I would invite interior decorators, mortgage brokers and other affiliates to blog with me, becoming a magnet blog to answer all local housing and moving needs.

If I keep thinking of all the possibilities a blog offers to market homes, I might just go take my license out of retirement and sell houses again. Well, maybe not, but a Realtor not using a blog today is simply missing the boat - and sales, visibility and market share. As more and more Realtors are attesting to.
