Blogging Down Under

For a mere few moments, I entertained this enticing proposition on World Nomad’s website.

“WE WANT YOU ! to travel all over the Australian countryside, write about it, blog it, Podcast and podcast it on the World Nomads website – vehicle and technical requirements provided free of charge – and you could be on your way to a career as a travel writer. Or at least a travel tragic.

World Nomads is looking for a minimum of 16 ‘Adventure Ambassadors’ to share in a huge, two-year Aussie road trip.
[...]
A total travel writer / blogger toolkit including laptop computer, iPod & audio recording gear, Nokia N-Series phone, Lonely Planet guidebook and other goodies to kit you up and help you record your adventure.”

Via a comprehensive deployment of social networking tools, World Nomad has successfully transformed the usually pedestrian insurance site into a resource for planning an entire adventure. And even if you can’t entertain the notion of becoming an ambassador, you’ll find that World Nomad’s excellent use of RSS , podcasting and blog technology enables them to deliver a robust package that includes SMS travel safety alerts, iPod language guides, personal travel journals and destination guides for what whatever journey you are planning .
