Blog Promotion strategy that is often overlooked involves locating blogs with topics somewhat similar to yours and placing relevant comments in their comment box area.

This can be effective especially for those blogs that let you create your own online identity with the main Web address or URL of your blog included as a link to your user name.

Such an approach is practical on most blogs where, in order to comment, you have to register first. True, this is usually done to “authenticate” you as an actual user and not a “comment spam” robot, but this feature has the added benefit of attracting people who are interested in what you have to say to the place where they can read more of your thoughts. That would be your blog, of course.

Here’s how this would work.

First, you will want to find a blog with subject material similar to yours. One way to do this would be to enter a keyword common on your blog into a blog search engine such as Google Blogsearch or Technorati. Or, you can use the Search function in an RSS aggregator such as Bloglines to look for blogs with subject material similar to yours.

Once you find these blogs, visit them, surf around and see which of them have category areas and posts in which subjects similar to those you write about in your blogs are discussed.

Go to those posts and look for a “Comments.” or similarly named box. You will probably see a “write a comment” or “reply to this post” box.

It’s likely that in or around this box, you will notice a Registration link. Click on that link, and you are likely to see boxes in which you may enter your user name, password- and maybe even your URL.

Enter your user name and password, along with the main URL for your blog. Not your website but your blog.

Then write a comment that isn’t just “check out my blog,” but is a thoughtful response to the post you are commenting about. Click Submit, or similarly named button.

You may receive an email with a long web address, asking you to verify your post. Click on that linked web address, and your post- with the URL of your blog- will be “live!”
