Many people underestimate the importance of the “About Me” page on their blog. In addition to being a searchable source of personal branding information, it is your chance to represent yourself in whatever format you choose.

Marketing your business is about creating relationships and having a relationship with someone you don’t know is exceedingly difficult. You can use the about page to give your readers a picture, literally and figuratively, of who you are. When thinking about developing a profile, here are some things to consider…

• Always add contact information to your profile…even if it is on other pages. Make it easy for people to reach out.
• Put up a photo of yourself, preferably one that is engaging, not too stuffy, not too casual.
• Include professional information, but also include some of your non-work favorites, too.
• Offer resource links, if you have some, for your favorite sites.
• Include links to other places on the net where folks can find you.
• Let your personality come through in your writing, help others “see” you.
• If you have multiple sites or businesses, add links to those sites, if appropriate.
• Include a piece of quirky information…a picture of your dog, mention of your favorite food, a hidden talent
• Talk about your passion for your business

These are some ideas to get you started. Feel free to add or take away…just keep this information in mind and don’t underestimate the importance of a great profile page.
