Blog Marketing for The Holidays: Is Your Site Ready for the Crowds?
![]()
I’ve started my Christmas shopping online and it is my goal not to step inside a single brick and mortar store this holiday season. I imagine that there are millions of consumers who are going to go the same route. Are we going to find your e-commerce site or are we going to find your competition’s site?
Jason Burby at ClickZ.com makes a good point:
“When a visitor accesses your site, it may be only one of 10 open tabs in Firefox. Your competitors may fill the remaining nine tabs. Web site visitors look to friends online and offline, as well as other trusted resources online outside of your site, to learn about your company and to determine whether to engage in a relationship with your company. Visitors are in control, and you must give them options if they are to do business with you.”
Now, how do you assure that your site is one of those tabs? It will be if you have already taken care of your Yuletide optimization. How long has it been since you fine-tuned your site? Your landing pages? Will your content “engage” your visitors so that they stay and see what you have to offer?
Does your e-commerce site have a blog? If not, well, I suggest you put that on your New Year’s resolution list - you are too late to take advantage of this shopping season. But if you are blog marketing, have you started talking the holidays to your readers? Have you started a feature that will offer your visitors easy gift shopping suggestions? Have you made sure your shopping cart experience is user friendly?
Just as one starts shedding pounds before the holiday parties and events, your online appearance should be holiday ready too. Kalena Jordan at SearchEngineGuide.com has 20 “work-out” tips that will assure that your site is a lean, mean, money making machine for Christmas.
