Blog Marketing and Guest Blogging
Blog marketing works on several levels. Keyword optimized content is the foundational level of your marketing efforts and supports the blog promotion campaigns that follow.

After you leverage your search engine rankings, you also want to score high on your reader’s index. It’s referred to as becoming a “thought leader” in your field.
One way of achieving recognition as a leader in your field is by guest blogging. Kevin is a jet ski retailer. Jet skis typically are purchased by big boat owners as a toy to supplement their boating enjoyment. Kevin regularly does a guest post on a local yacht broker’s blog, providing advice, safety tips and other relevant info.
He has tracked offline conversions by the simple method of offering a 10% discount on jet ski sales to any buyer who brings a print-out of one of his posts. Online shoppers type the name of the blog they found him at to get discounted shipping. His successful guest spots there have led to appearances on other affiliate blogs. He has achieved greatly increased traffic, conversions and the promotion of his brand and his water sports expertise across a far larger region than his old media marketing efforts could penetrate.
“Aside from the direct benefit of increased traffic for a few days, you are also exposing your blog (and your name) to a new audience — and helping to brand your blog and yourself in the process. Sure, most of the readers of the other blog won’t follow the link to your blog … but they might notice the name of your blog, and your name. And the next time you write a guest post for another blog they read, they might notice your name and the name of your blog then too. After a little while, they’ll start to take notice. “Hey, this guy is everywhere!” They’ll also start to remember your blog’s name — that’s the nature of branding. And soon, they’ll decide that they just have to find out what this new blog is all about. Constant exposure is a good thing.”
