API Charges

Friday, April 21st, 2006

Google may start charging for API use. At this point, most Google APIs are doled out on a limited basis and their limit puts a real limit on the functionality of the service using them.
Some people see the coming charges as a barrier.
From MediaPost:

Previously, Google made its API available for free, but [...]

Segmented Search

Friday, April 21st, 2006

I’ve been frustrated with this more than once (read daily) and I really couldn’t put a finger on what it was that really made searching the wealth of information in the blogosphere so difficult.  Steve Rubel has done a good, if pithy, job of explaining the segmented search problem:

The versions:

Windows Starter 2007
Windows Vista Enterprise

This makes a great deal of sense as to their overall [...]

Updating MSN’s Adcenter

Wednesday, April 19th, 2006

From Mary Jo Foley, MSN’s AdCenter was down for a few hours yesterday for site updates.
The new release will include updates on the keywords,
parameter-naming-convention, billing-statement and opt-in/out fronts,
according to a posting on the adCenter Community Team blog.

Do you use the MSN AdCenter?  I haven’t met anyone in my daily blogging travels that does…

iTunes Album Art

Wednesday, April 19th, 2006

iTunes Album Art is very effective in getting listeners to take a first listen to a podcast.  In fact, most of the podcasts I initially download are because I was responding to the album art.
Make your album art a rendition of your logo or even a subject that relates to your theme.
Whatever you make it, [...]
