Podcasting, Vidcasting, and Now Photocasting

There’s a new source of website promotion combining established marketing technology with photocastingdigital picture imaging. NASCAR.com is using a media player to loop digital photos to be downloaded by fans from the website and played on the user’s computer desktop. Digital photo downloading advertises to NASCAR followers through sponsorship tags and promo stamping added to the photocast.

Corporate photocasting is appropriate for corporate promotion intended to engage a sight-driven audience. Attractive photos of a visually stimulating product, in this case the NASCAR racing experience, are the draw of this marketing ploy. Photocasting joins the more superior promotional ranks of podcasting, vidcasting, RSS, and blog marketing technology. Photocasting may thrill a specified audience and introduce the onlooker to sponsors’ logos but I sense that décor-based promotion is less invasive and likely less convincing to an audience than the other mentioned downloadable feeds.
