Subscription Chicklets

Because of the ’stickiness’ that an RSS enabled site creates, you should place a great deal of thought into helping your readers discover your RSS feeds.
Notice how most popular sites put their subscription chicklets (ie Subscribe with MyYahoo! and Subscribe with Bloglines buttons) in the area of the screen as what is referred to as ‘above the fold’, or the area that you can see, without scrolling down, when you first open a web page. This is your prime web real estate. Your most important items should be placed there, anything from your Home link, a form of monetization and your subscription options.
Don’t make the mistake of placing them in an area where your users will NOT see them. The more difficult you make it to subscribe, the less likely they will subscribe, and you’re missing out on a great deal of ’stickiness’.
