• 50% increase in Internet Radio Usage
• 11% have listened to an audio podcast (though this oddly included downloadable music, which skews the results)
• 20% of these are between the ages of 12 and 17
• 53% are under 35 years old

Now, while on first glance that makes podcasting seem like a very young trend, the converse of those numbers means the other 47% are over 35, and that is quite large as well. These numbers mean that roughly half of the people who have ever heard a podcast are above 35 years old.

I’d like to see data that doesn’t include those who have listened to one podcast, but includes people who say they have downloaded a podcast more than 3 times. Listener usage seems more indicative of trends, though I understand the focus of the study was overall reach of emerging trends.
