Corporate Evangelists
A corporate evangelist is a necessary component of a Web 2.0 company. The job is similar in nature to a PR representative, but with more authority.
The best example is that of Robert Scoble. I’m not going to link to Robert, he sure doesn’t need it and I think it would be more eduational for you to actually have to Google his name to see the number of results you will find.
Understand that Robert is a Microsoft corporate evangelist. In other words, the popularity of Robert is directly beneficial for Microsoft.
He spends his days answering emails, being a posting to his blog, addressing comments on his site and on others about Microsoft, etc. and does a great job just being the voice of Microsoft online.
If you are Web 2.0 company, or you aim to be one, consider adding a corporate evangelist to your payroll.
All this week I’ll be addressing corporate evangelists. If you are a corporate evangelist and you want to be profiled, send me an email.
