Google Adsense Payout Is Public

In a NYTimes article over the weekend, a surprising comment, not really the focus of the story, is becoming the story for the blogosphere.

Google.com and the company’s foreign search sites contribute more to Google’s bottom line than AdSense, because for every dollar the company brings in through AdSense and other places that distribute its ads, it pays roughly 78.5 cents back to sites like Digital Point that display the ads. (emphasis added)

Any news on Google’s Adsense and Yahoo!’s Publisher Network (YPN) is scrutinized heavily by the blogosphere for the simple reason that so many bloggers either make their income or hope to make their income from these contexual ad networks.

Now, thanks to this article on Google’s ad program, we know, roughly, just how much of advertising goes back to the sites that show the ads.
