BBC Pushes RSS Into the Mainstream

For the last several months everyone has been saying that RSS was going mainstream. Of course, some said it was already there, but most know that until grandma can understand RSS it isn’t as mainstream as we’d like to think it is.

Well, hold on to your hat grams, because the BBC is bring RSS to you! With a brand new site, the BBC is seeking to make RSS truly mainstream. The Feed Factory explains RSS in easy-to-understand words with clever little pictures.

While it’s never really difficult to explain feeds, the BBC has taken a fantastic approach to making this easier to understand. Friends at the BBC have said that the British corporation will begin pushing feeds heavily on all of its sites, and then linking to The Feed Factory with a "what is this?" type link beside each feed.

The thought is that it should allow regular aunt Jo, uncle Arther and Grams to figure out feeds much more easily than by telling them to "just Google it".
